In The Community: The 2017 Summit Autism Walk!
The 2017 Summit Center Autism Walk
On Saturday April 29th, the We Rock the Spectrum Buffalo team spent the day raising money and awareness for the local organization The Summit Center! The Summit Center located in Getzville, New York is a Nonprofit Organization within the Buffalo area that provides educational and therapeutic services to more than 2,700 children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental, social, and behavioral challenges. The Summit Center provides Early Intervention and Education, Behavioral Health, Community and Adult programs and services to children and adults within the area. Each year, The Summit Center designates a “Walk Day” to celebrate and raise awareness of the services that they provide, and the families that they serve. The Summit Center Autism Walk is a family-friendly event with 91% of every dollar raised going directly to benefiting the children, adults, and families that they serve. The Summit Center Autism Walk is centered around a 4-mile walk from the Getzville, NY Summit Center location, along the Amherst bike path, and back to the Summit Center. To conclude the walk and to thank the participants who have dedicated their time and donations, the Summit Center provides a post-walk picnic with food, beverages, activities for children, and live entertainment.
